The author of this blog is Scott Fabel, and here's a little bit about him in his own words:

"My high school graduation was in 1989. That autumn, I started my Bachelor's Degree at Millersville University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Initially, I wanted to become a teacher; I double-majored in French and Russian with the intention of receiving a BSEd. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience during my student teaching that caused me to change my course of study to a BA. I still wanted to do something with my language skills, and I certainly had not given up hope on teaching; however, the high school classroom was not the place for me. It was my senior year, in 1993, when I changed my degree. That change caused me to need a variety of additional credits. Additionally, I needed to complete several more Russian credits to graduate. There was little hope of graduating in four years.

That same year, I was offered a terrific opportunity to start working full-time in a corporate environment. A local company needed someone who could speak French to work on a technical helpdesk. Fortunately, I enjoyed both working with computers and speaking French, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity. I took a leave of absence from the University and began working. I vowed that I would complete my degree, and my new employer was willing to work with my school schedule. Nine years later, in the fall of 2002, I graduated from Millersville University. It was a very long process to take one course at a time, but it was worth it. I learned much along the way.

Shortly after completing my Bachelor's Degree, I decided to pursue a Master's Degree. I was intrigued with the idea of completing a degree online, so I enrolled in the University of Phoenix's Master's of Education program. I thoroughly enjoyed my online experience! Having completed my Master’s Degree online in November 2004, I decided to keep the momentum going and to enroll in a doctoral program with Walden University. I started pursuing a Ph.D. in Education; however, I am now pursuing an Ed.D. My concentration is Higher Education and Adult Learning.

At present, I am still working for the same company that hired me during my undergraduate days, Computer Aid, Inc., albeit in a different role. After spending about three years working on a helpdesk, I transitioned to another position that required me to travel around the United States and Canada and provide training to my client's user population. It was very exciting to travel, and I gained valuable training experience. Over time, my employer sent me to several Trainer Certification Programs. I now hold several certifications geared toward Technical Training, Instructional Design, and Classroom Facilitation. Unfortunately, after about two years of traveling, I grew weary of hotels and airports. I loved training, and I was certain that I wanted to continue to do it, but I really did not want to travel any longer. Fortunately, my company offered me a new position in our Regional Headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. They decided to create a new training department, and I was one of their first Training Consultants.

Over ten years ago, I earned the title Training Consultant, and I continue to fulfill that role today. Predominantly, I train my company's associates; however, I also provide training to several of our clients. Most of the training that I do is technical: Microsoft Office, MCSE / MCSA / MCDST / MCP, A+, Network+, etc. I needed to continually re-certify in these technical realms throughout the years, so I possess an arm's length of technical certifications. More recently, I've been required to also teach professional skills: Customer Service, Time Management and Organizational Skills, Communication Skills, Effective Presentation Skills, etc. I have found these classes to be very rewarding and will enjoy doing more of them. In addition, I have my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and I have been teaching those classes. Most recently, I received my Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification, and I have been teaching those classes as well."
